This was my very first book from this author Rachael Brownell and it moved my heart.If you have ever loved someone who didn’t know you existed, or loved a friend, you are reminded of those sweet and passionate days of longing and unrequited love in this beautiful spin of a novel, this breathtaking love triangle of hard and fast decision, this tale of either letting go of the past and move on and grow with someone new, or holding on, giving the heart what it always wanted.
Romantic suspense seems to be Rachael true forte as she serves up this delicious tale of pure excitement, passion and allure.
Becca has pined for best friend Brad for years and unknowing to her, he loved her too, but both are young at heart, inexperienced, unprepared and unable to utter the simple words that could change their lives forever. Then the story takes a heartbreaking turn when Becca moves away, she later meets Ethan, the hot guy with a secret but whom sweeps her off her feet. When Brad finally comes around this young girl’s heart is torn in two and she must make one of the biggest decisions of her life that will mean happiness or not.
The themes in this book is timeless, it’s satisfying, heart-warming and a lot of fun. I am very impressed with this author and I do expect to check out her other stuff as I am hooked.

Becca & Brad have a great friendship full of love yet neither know how much the other truly loves them until it's too late. Ethan is such a great guy & great boyfriend. He would truly do anything for Becca. Now if only Becca could officially decide who she wants to be with. This book was such a great love story. Another great book by Rachael Brownell!
This story is fine (well, until you get to the ridiculous cliched final chapters). But the book is so poorly written with typos and spelling errors. The tenses are so weird too. Sentences often written in two tenses or sentences following each other in totally opposing tenses. Get a good proof reader and editor. If you are going to spend all that time and energy on writing a book then do it well. I will not be reading more in the series.
Great story with great characters.Makes for easy reading.
I love that Becca and Brad are best friends.When their friendship takes a turn for love the unexpected happens. Becca find out that she is moving far away.Leaving her home town and her best friend behind she is torn.
It doesn't take long before she is falling head over heels for a new guy in her new school.Tennis player Ethan.They end up madly in love and her best friend is suddenly in the back seat.Things change so quickly,love is what is.
But when Brad is in an accident,Becca flies back home to be with him.
This is a great story,I couldn't put it down.Can't wait to read the next one.
I absolutely loved this story. I was torn the whole time though I'm totally #TeamEthan. Ethan's secret drove me nuts and Becca was extremely patient waiting. Ethan's patience with Becca's friendship with Brad is unbelievable. If you're looking for a super angsty upper YA romance with lots of love I highly recommend checking out Holding On. I can't wait to be able to dig in to the rest of the series. *runs off to buy rest of series*
As a high school teacher, I understand where all the teenage drama is coming from, but it's not something that is enjoyable to read. Poor Becca has some big maturity issues and I'm not sure that she is ready for any kind of relationship, but that wasn't the biggest issue with this book. I knew when she 'released the breath she didn't know she was holding' at least three times in the first chapter that this book would be a struggle. This book needs a good editor, there were more grammatical errors on one page than I would like to see in an entire book. I am also not a fan of love triangles and this is one that takes Becca entirely too long to figure out. This book was too slow moving and drawn out to even think about reading anymore of the series.
Wow, I couldn't put down this book. Literally. I read this and book 2 until 4am because I just HAD to know how they'd turn out. Thank god, it turned out the way I wanted it to. But the journey was the interesting part.
Brad and Becca have been best friends for almost their entire lives. He has a girlfriend and she's trying to stay oblivious to her own feelings. Until Becca finds out she's moving two thousand miles away. Then Brad kisses her and puts her in a tailspin. It breaks her heart that she's finally realizing that he felt the same way as she did when she's just leaving. What a horrible way to go. But she tells him that she wants to remain friends because the frienship is more important to her. She didn't want to get into a relationship then watch it fall apart because of the distance.
She moves away. And unexpectedly, she meets a guy, Ethan in her new school who takes her breath away. Suddenly her world is all abut Ethan. But the problem is she still loves Brad. So she's one super confused girl who's trying to figure out where her heart belongs. Brad doesn't help when he pretty much forces his way back to her.
What an incredible series. I read all four and wow, I loved it. But the first two are my favorites since they are full novels and it takes you on a longer journey than the last two novellas.
Holding On is a contemporary fiction suitable for Young Adult readers; I recommend high school age and up.
Becca is smart, funny, and an amazing tennis player. She is also being uprooted and moved 2000 miles away from her best friend, and secret crush, Brad. He loves Becca, but doesn’t tell her until she is leaving. Ethan is a nice guy at Becca’s new school who brings her whole being to life whenever he is around her. What is a girl to do?
This is a book that I like very much. It has an easy flow even though it transitions along a rocky and unexpected path. It is emotional but without all that dramatic angst that is hard for me to stomach. It is a love triangle, but not in the traditional sense. Author Rachael Brownell has written an excellent work that is smart and entertaining. There is the tiniest hint of a cliffhanger within the last lines. What happens next? You will have to read Unglued.
